I think after.. several hour of searching, I have figured it out...seems that the cisco aironet card has to have very specific digits as follows...0 to 9 ...a to f or A to F The keys can be any combination of these digits.... and very
specific ..10 or 26 (10 hexadecimal digits for 40-bit WEP keys or 26 hexadecimal digits for 128-bit WEP keys) as to the number of digits allowed.
As of this post I have not tried it yet (my network admin is still sleeping) but I am fairly confident it will work when I change the router to a key combination that is accepted by the Cisco card.
