Would anyone like a ghost image of MicroXP for WebDT 366?

If you are running Windows on your WebDT366 this is for you.

Did anyone not follow these directions:

"!!! Make sure you restore it using Ghost via Restore Disk From Image, not Restore Partition from Image, as that will fail. !!!"

Alright, well, I'll attempt to restore the Ghost Image to a VirtualBox VM and see how it goes. Stay tuned.

I used restore disk from image per your instructions, same error. I used both ghost.exe and ghost_83.exe with the same error as everyone else.

Thanks for trying to fix it.

I could try that. I'm not too sure, but I'll see how this Ghost Restore Works on my end.

Coburn64 You mentioned earlier that you are using your WebDT 366 as a workstation with Linux. I was wondering what distribution of Linux you were using? I am using my WebDT 360 with Puppy.  I have just won a WebDT 368 on Ebay and will be looking for a good operating system for it.

I have just uploaded the Ghost Image without any compression (ie. 7zip) so get it from here:

http://data.coburndomain.net/webdt/WebDT 366 XP Image.gho

I run Puppy on my WebDT 366 right now and it works perfectly. :) I tried the LXDE Debian distro but it was flaky and the touchscreen was dodgy when calibrating it. I did a intense 25 point calbiration using Puppy and it's perfect now.

thanks for trying to upload this but I think the problem relates to the version you're using to create the image.  I can browse with ghost explorer just fine but the image has a problem when trying to restore.

what version of Ghost are you using to create the image and are you selecting to compress the image or not?  I use and script in Ghost a lot and usually only see problems like this when an image is created in a newer version of Ghost than the one being restored from.  I would love to test this image if you can provide some details of how it was created.

I am using a torrented version of Ghost, which is Ghost Corp v8.3. I chose "Disk to Image" and used "Fast" compression.

I am currently not in the position to recreate the image, and I do not wish to be hassled for an MicroXP Image for WebDT 366. I have received many requests and emails regarding this, and I'm getting tired of having to say the same thing over and over like a broken record. It is quite simple to make the image yourself and I will provide a howto (of Installation of MicroXP and such), and if it's giving you this much grief.

I hope you understand. Thanks.

Well, i can certainly understand your frustration with the emails, and i am sure we are all grateful of your attempts to put a working image up for us to download.

I have the same version of ghost as you are using, and decompression fails :(

a posted howto would be of great benifit.

I agree with fischb22!  I have a working MicroXP installation but thought I would offer up some help if I could.  I prefer to use this device with XPe since it gives me the options I need for remote desktop, user management, etc.

Also with more research it looks like the ghost image error might relate to the format of your device before you image it.  Is your 366 running as FAT32 or NTFS?

thanks again for any and all hard work on these!

Sorry that I came across like a bitch guys, at the time of writing I was really down and just hanging together (maybe depressed?) but yeah, I got email and PM overload.

Coburn's back. And he's reloaded. Fully Reloaded.

The Ghost Image C Drive is formatted using FAT16 (!). Could that be a problem?  :o

Listen up. I think I may have a solution! Yup.

It'll involve the Windows XP Ghost Image (extract all the files using Ghost Explorer into a directory, that way it'll work), Windows 98 DOS (DOS 7.1) and GRUB4DOS

We'll make a bootable USB drive, copy over all WinXP files to C Drive after using FDISK, then copy GRUB4DOS over to C Drive and we should have a working copy of Windows XP on your WebDT! :D

Don't proceed until I've got a plan written up! We could totally botch everything up and make your WebDT a toasted brick! Stay tuned.
