small and portable apps

Post by serialjoepsycho »

here are two I tried
http://www.lupopensuite.com/index.htm
http://portableapps.com/

If you don't like free then pay for similar stuff here
http://www.u3.com/

These have the system tools that are missing from a certain copy of xp
antivirus and servral other apps like browsers, multimedia, even a potable version of gimp (it loads slow but after it loads it seems to go at a fair speed), a few games, and ect.

I found portableapps useful but over all I liked lupo.

I think both the portable apps and the lupo apps can be installed on the harddrive and since they are smaller some might be more suited for the dt. Such as the browsers, open office, ect. I know the lupo apps can be installed on the harddrive and it's likely the the portableapps will as well. I just put the lupo suite on a usb because hell its fast enough for me.  some of the large progs take a second to load but after they load they run fairly well.anywho look at it.

ok I found another set of free portable apps: http://www.rsc-ne-scotland.ac.uk/eduapps/accessapps.php or
http://www.winpenpack.com/main/page.php?26 (not in english but you can translate it using google or here:
http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... 3Dwt3  These apps may come in English or have a translation pack. its worth looking at.)

there are a few ways to do your own. heres some propiety software to do so: http://www.ceedo.com/products/ceedo-personal.html
or http://www.vmware.com/products/thinapp/ or http://www.mojopac.com/ (I have used none of these and I refuse to buy what I can get for free.) Of course there are 100s of easy to follow tutorials and you can ever add Stuff like WoW (though I doubt it will work on the dt.). goodluck if you try it.
