Post by Fleegman »

For those of you that seen my video of me using my WebDT 366 with Windows CE, I'm sure you're probabling wondering where you can get those nifty CE apps.

Here's the link:
http://tinyurl.com/webdt-ce-software

Here's what you'll find there:
  - FlashPlayer7
  - MiToTeam Paint
  - SkyBook (a Facebook manager)
  - Virtual Earth Mobile (a Google Earth Clone)
  - Weather Watcher Mobile
  - Web Video Downloader

All the above softare can be downloaded from within your WebDT.  These are the same ones I have running on my unit, so I hope you enjoy them.

;D This is all I can say, mucho gracias, danke and all that too. I've been beating my head against a wall trying to run down x86 CE software. I have found a 3rd party vnc program that works perfectly on the Ce(x86) platform. (http://dotnetvnc.sourceforge.net/)

Glad I could help.  My kids really enjoy the Paint program... it makes for a great digital coloring pad for fun scribbles.

thanks for the programs. I have tried installing over a hundred programs but only found one that worked, the paint program, before i found this site. I also just found this site http://teknowmagic.net/index.html. They have 13 programs, i have install nine of them and tested a few.  they arn't the greatest games but they install and mostly work.  I found them when i found their checkers game and it worked. Sorry for not pasting the exact program page but I am currently on my tablet surfing the web using my bluetooth networked to another computer because i bought my tablet without the network card. stupid me. Anyway it takes some getting used to not using a keyboard and mouse.  I have also found a pdf converter program 'pocketpdf', i will uploud it or add a link when i log on with a normal computer.  Again its not real cool but it does install and work. I was looking for a pdf reader program to use the tablet to read hundreds of pdf comics that i have but this pocketpdf program only converts txt to pdf.

Warning and need help.
I just fragged my machine.  I am running windows ce.  I had just installed the apps I mentions above and things were fine but I had a qweark on my macine that made me have to reinstall all my apps evertime I rebotted.
I figured I messed something up when I was screwing around trying to get drivers on it so I desided to use the save settings to restore it back to factory settings.
I did that and it restared and it looked great.  I reinstalled all the programs but then found out I could nolonger connect to my home computer via bluetooth to share the internet.
So I went screwing around again, trying to remember how I got working in the first time.  I only changed two things and retarted my machine and now it just hangs at the end of the blue line on the blue cloudy screen.
I don't know if fixing the machine so installed apps stayed installed and one of the apps I listed above messed my machine up or if the fact that I when to network and told it bluetooth instead of that @desktop thing or
going to the webtd logging and stopping the service messed me up.  sorry I cant remember exactly what the name of the two things I changed were and I cant go look at them cause I cant get back in.
so bottom line install the apps I metioned at your own risk sorry and if any one has a quick fix I would love the help.  I have tried the hard rest a dozen times with no luck.  I think I am going to be forced to load another
os just after working out the bluetooth.

I tried this program last night and it works.  Thanks HyperNewb. One thing I didn't quite understand this application is described as cross platform and didn't need a special version for the x86 processor. Is that because it is written in "c"? Are there other apps like this?

I FOUND A LISTA OF X86 BUILDS IN THIS LINK:

See below:

Hey. Over some time I have compiled a list of the CE software I have come across that has an x86 version available. While there isn't much, there is at least some, and a lot of open source software you find can just be recompiled as well. Even SpreadCE, PocketTV and PocketDOS have native x86 versions available, so all hope is not totally lost. Many .Net Compact Framework programs may also run if you have the .NET Compact Framework in ROM. If you don't, it can be downloaded from Microsoft's site(use google). Visual Basic apps my also be usable if you install the runtimes (There are x86 builds of the VB runtimes included in the sdks for HPC 2000 and Pocket PC 2002). PocketC programs should work as well, as there is an x86 build of the runtime.
Anyway, here is my list:
