Just in case you weren't aware of puppy 5

Post by serialjoepsycho »

Puppy 5 ... well can we really go there? maybe they will make a distro called puppy 5 but that will be seen. So far from what I can tell puppy 5 is multiple versions of puppy (or perhaps they will just call these puplets) based on a project called woof. Basically puppies based on woof will be puppy versions of other distros. Such as dpup a version of puppy based on debian: http://www.dpup.org/ . I think there is another called upuptu and so on. I am going to try dpup in virtual box. See if it is set up to handle debs. I'll post my results.

ok so i checked out dpup. It seems fairly stable but once again I loaded it up on my desktop. It still doesn't have  any sudo command so you will have to run thru Matts faq but it does handle debs. I think I found a deb package for it. we know how compatible ubuntu is withdebian but the question is how compatible is debian with ubuntu? I found an Ubuntu .deb
for the penmounts. Here is the latest one for lucid. The question is is it compatible with debian 5 and dpup. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/i386 ... /1:1.4.1-1 and here are the older ones as well: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xs ... t-penmount
