NimbleX 2007 Woes

Post by Coburn64 »

So, I've tried to run NimbleX on my WebDT 366, following the "bake your own custom install" tutorial floating around the place. I do so, I get up to the stage where it says "Have a nice day" (aka install complete) and I go pop it into

The BIOS does it's stuff and goes ":D I HAVE BOOT!!111". Looks at the USB Drive. "Nope, not booting from that." Loads Windows CE instead. Grrrrrr.

Meanwhile, Coburn pulls out fdisk and looks at the setup on the USB. No partitions are marked active on the USB Drive, hence it not being bootable. I set sda2 (my USB key partition for NimbleX) as active. Write Changes. Quit Fdisk, pop USB into WebDT.

BIOS says "OMG! I have Boot!", looks at USB, goes "GRUB Loading stage1.5. GRUB Loading, please wait"...

BANG.
GRUB Error 17. Halting.

The Setup: Custom NimbleX LiveCD running in VirtualBox (USB Drive is seen via the LiveCD, etc, I can make direct edits to the USB Drive).

Any help would be appreciated. I'm using my WebDT as a portable Linux workstation. Otherwise I'll be using DSL instead... Or perhaps Puppy.
