Ubuntu alpha

Post by ionbladez »

Hey guys, just seen this on hackaday:
http://hackaday.com/2009/09/01/lubuntu-9-10-alpha-image-available/
and thought "HEY, WHAT THE HELL!".

It's a 400 MB ISO, it is packed with LXDE as well. Lightweight, small image - Am I getting somewhere?
I'm not new to building a linux distro on a device but am not at home right now next to my pc. I've been in Japan for the past month and half and I'd like to see if someone can get anything on this.

Thanks, I hope this works...

Downloaded and burned the iso this afternoon. It is a live CD - no way to install it. Just had a real quick look but it doesn't look too bad. Not too sure how it will work with the DT's though. Our esteemed Linux brothers will have to tell us that.

The best thing to try would be the live cd on the dt. If it loads then cool. It's still alpha and I don't think they will have. It's based off Karmic koala which is the next ubuntu update due out in october.

Well with ubuntu there is always the choice of a third party version like linux mint. If anyone did try lubuntu and it did work there is a linux mint lxde distro available.
