I'm relatively new to the windows CE system, and I seem to be having a bit of trouble.
I'm not sure how active the users here are anymore, but I've been searching around the forums, and am looking for some help.
I have an old WebDT366, and I'm trying to figure out how exactly I'm supposed to connecting to my home wifi connection.  I'm not entirely sure that my wireless card is functional, because I don't know how to test it. I couldn't even tell you what kind it is.
If at all possible, I was wondering if it would be easier to configure these options if I just flashed a Linux based operating system to the tablet, and if so, which one I should attempt.

Thanks.

I'm sorry it has been so long since I used WinCE 5.  From memory the wireless connection client was in the quick launch menu near the clock (bottom right).  It would help to just remove the wireless card and see what model it is, two screws under antenna mount.

I'm not sure, but you may want to see if it an issue with your wifi security settings.  I think the older Cisco cards did not support WPA, at least in Linux they didn't.

Again from memory if you go to start>programs>communications>connections or similar you should be able to setup a connection.  Sorry for the lack of detail.

I would not go ahead and flash the unit if you think WinCE will server your purpose.  First try a live environment like the Nimblex, see if these instructions work for you.

Some newer routers default with 802.11b disabled - especially the newer "N" speed models.  Check the router that it is in mixed mode to support "B".  I have a couple of those old Cisco 350 cards laying around if you need one.  If you plan to upgrade to XP or Linux then a new card would be recommended simply for speed.  EBAY has plenty for under $7-$8 delivered.

Nimblex works well.  I find PUPPY Linux version 4.31 to work very well on the 366.    Get it here:

If you need to send it out for repair, I can help you there too.
