Above is the official cut sheet for the WebDT366. Its an AMD Geode GX based 400mhz x86 cpu with 256 mb or ddr ram. Most came with a 512 or 524 mb proprietary internal flash drive. PCMCIA slot and a compact flash slot that is not bootable. One usb port is available at USB 1.1 speed. The touchscreen is an 8.4 inch with a max resolution of 800x600 from Penmount. Penmount still offers drivers for the screen and the controller from their website. DT Research, the manufacturer of the hardware, does not support the WebDT366 any longer.

My 366lx800 comes with a 500 MHz cpu, 512 ram, 512 nand and USB 2.0. Any webdt that uses LX series cpu has USB 2.0

btw, the wifi card slot on tbowland's 366, is it mini-pci or pcmcia?

I should update this topic to include both LX800 and GX series specs. Yhe pdf advertises a range. The LX800 tablets (tbowland) are mini-pci with an intel 2200 pro card.

There is a broadcom card on ebay that allows 1080p h264 decoding. I think it's mPCIE but I will check if mPCI version exists. That will be awesome.

I think we should create naming conventions like "366lx800" and "366lx800@500/512ram/512rom/usb2"  so we can determine the real hardware. Just the model number of the tablet is too vague to judge the internals.

I agree.  It would make it easier to search for drivers.

Any LX processor WEBDT - 366 or 360 - can rotate the video for landscape or portrait viewing.  This is great for e-reading.  The newer BIOS can also support 1024x768 as well as 800x600.
Sorry GX owners, this is for LX processors only in either XPe or XP Pro.

Search google for:

"AMD Geode LX Processor Windows XP Display Driver Customization Guide"

and you'll get the PDF with all the info.  -Dave

Re: Hardware specs - VIDEO DRIVERS

I have had a few PMs about video drivers so here's some info:

Video drivers..........

07/02/2004 - v1.4.0.0 - originally shipped with 366GX (works with all flavors of XP - all models)
11/22/2005 - v3.0.2.0 - originally shipped with 360 & some 366LX (2k and all XP - rotatable - LX only)
other versions exist but these work on all as noted.

To rotate the video on the 366LX or 360 from the front buttons you need the Button Agent from the 360
version 2.1.0.9 plus the screenrotate.exe utility and for grins take the systemutility.exe too.
These can be found in the c:\windows\system32 directory of a 360 running XP or Xpe as shipped from DTR.

To change the version of the button agent, open the task manager and end the btnagent.exe process.
Then open regedit and browse to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DTResearch\BtnAgent]
and delete BtnAgent and all under it.  Copy the new btnagent.exe over the old one in your \windows\system32
directory and then reboot the tablet.  Screenrotate.exe and systemutility.exe must be in the
C:\windows\system32 directory.  If you have windows installed to a drive other than C: then you'll need
to create the directory structure on c: since many things are hard coded in the utilities.

The systemutility.exe app can be run on the 366GX as well using the 'customize' feature in the the 2.0.0.3 BtnAgent.
Running BtnAgent  2.1.0.9 on a GX has issues.

Systemutility.exe version 2.1.0.4 works on the 366GX, 366LX and 360. with no issues.

If you don't know the potential damage you can do with regedit then don't do it.

PM me if you need drivers and .reg files.

This is awesome,

I simply ran the reg hacks, replaced my drivers as described, then copied the new system32 files over mine, rebooted, and wham, my buttons are now programmed for screen rotation, power save, and a great new utility for managing wireless, brightness, bluetoothe, etc.

One thing I don't understand though, how can 1024x768 be useful with a hardwired 800x600 screen?

I have a DT366LX 512/512, BG2200

Only the newer screens can run 1024x768.  If you have one that can only display 800x600 then that's all you can have.  The 1024x768 is pretty small but works well with a slightly larger system font - well, for me anyway.  Having the extra space is great.

Glad you like the rotation routine.  It's great for using your DT as an e-reader.

I screwed up on the registry hack I gave you - it has an error and the arrow keys up-down-left-right are screwed up.  This fixes it.  If you never did the bad registry "fix" then no need to correct the "fix"

Thanks to volkswagner for the idea on using the right-side button as an ENTER key.  I like it!

Copy and paste into notepad to make a file named BTNAGENT.REG or manually delete the reference to the arrow keys and edit manually.  Always look twice when messing with the registry!!
