Re: IDE-CF MOD
Very interesting. but as always I have a few questions. Did you have to file down the connector to make a good contact? Does the case still close? Which exact model of CF adapter did you get and from where? Have you done any performance tests on the card? If so what speeds do you get? Thanks, Dave.

I agree, It is also worth pointing out that Bogdan only ever booted from a USB flash drive and as we all know this is dog slow compared to the internal flash. I've only booted from a flash drive where I installed syslinux but if that worked I don't see why booting from the internal flash shouldn't b...

Re: Apacer DOM - 90 degree
Oh and one other thing, I do not know if the DT 366 needs a PIO or UDMA modules.
If anyone has their DT366 open what part numbers if any are on the internal module?
Dave.

Re: Apacer DOM - 90 degree
This sounds like marketing speak for we can charge big bucks if it is DT Research only. The DT 366 uses standard chips (Geode GX) so there is nothing 2 special there. Some things I can think of are the DT 366 modules are low profile. I have also been thinking that they may even be 270 degree modules...

One benefit of the DT366 is all these great people that have them to share info, I dont know of anyone with a DT368.
Please let us know exactly what flash module you ordered and if it works out.

Re: Apacer DOM - 90 degree
Umm, you may have to sand the connector down. The DT 366 uses a low profile connector like the one pictured here

Note the contact go all the way to the surface.

Re: Extermal Battery Pack.
I got thinking this morning before ordering some bare cells, what if there is some charge counter stored on the board so I did a little more digging. One of the IC's on the board is S8232U which is a battery control logic http://datasheet.sii-ic.com/en/battery_protection/S8232_E.pdf The second IC wa...

Re: DT366 - auto car charger
Umm, may be a little high, im not sure what the voltage regulators in the WebDT are but I would guess they will probably be for sources around 12V. In the Pollariy issue my WebDT seems to have +ve as the center pin of the PSU. You can check this, there should be C symbol with a dot in it something l...

Extermal Battery Pack.
OK, tonight's project was to work out what makes the external battery pack tick. So using brute force I opened up one of them up. Once open I discovered that there are two screws hidden under the labels that would allow the pack to be opened without destroying it. Here is probably the place to menti...

Re: DT366 - auto car charger
Umm, It looks to me like your Targus Adapter should have worked, 8A > 3.5A and 70W > 45W (These are really the same thing as Watts = Volts x Amps.) One thing to check though is the polariity. Sometime the center pin on a PSU plug is +ve sometime -ve I believe there is an unwritten rule the center sh...

Re: Finaly got one
I know laptops4me has been hit and miss for many. I know Q had problems with them but I have not had an unresolved issue. I ordered 3 machines that all arrived on time and recently ordered three new batteries from some other user that also turned out to be latptops4me as well. However, when the batt...

Re: some usb sticks aren't bootable a trick to solve that problem.
I had a similar issue, I think the DT366 can only boot from the first part of the drive. If the file needed to boot is later in the drive it will fail. I worked around this by using a small 8MB? Fat partition at the beginning of the usb disk that held syslinux, the linux kernel and initrd after this...

I don't think B is the bottleneck.
I could not get the PCMCIA slot to read or write faster than 1.6MB/s to a fast CF card in the PCMCIA slot. I have a feeling both the PCMCIA and CF card are hanging off a USB1.1 connection. (USB 1.1 12Mb/8 = 1.5MB/s I.e. within my experimental error.)

PCMCIA and CF Slot speeds
Last night I did some speed tests on the CF card slot and PCMCIA card slot. Here is what I did Inset a PNY Ultra DMA 4GB card into CF slot dd 1GB of data from /dev/zero to the card and time it dd 1GB file just created to /dev/null and time it Repeat the above with a generic 2GB (microcenter) card Re...
